About the CMA

Our History

The Cabinet Makers Association was incorporated in 1998 by a group of custom cabinet makers who thought our industry needed a group for the small to mid size shop to network and help each other grow profitably. Since 1998, we have grown to include hundreds of small to medium sized cabinet shops, millworkers and furniture makers and suppliers throughout the USA, and even a few members throughout the world.

Currently, our membership is made up of largely five man or less shops, but many of our members range in sizes up to well over 70 employees. We understand that the public often views our industry as a "blue collar" job, but that each one of our members is a professional craftsman. As such, we hope to give our members the tools necessary to compete on a professional level, to share experience, to educate ourselves and our clients, and to help make all of us successful and profitable.

We do not believe that the guy down the street is our competitor. We believe there is more qualified work than qualified shops to do it. By working together to educate ourselves, our customers and the industry as a whole we can make sure there is enough profitable work for all of us, now and into the future.
